Dreams Are Ridiculous Things
by Tom Howell

Time was, I thought I'd be a cowboy
Got myself a cowboy belt
My sister bought me some cowboy boots
I kinda liked the way they felt
But time's gone by like a bird in the sky
I don't think it's gonna be
I'll let it go, as long as I know
You're gonna be here with me

Dreams are ridiculous things, I'd rather be awake with you
Singing in the shower, heading to the store
Maybe cooking up an Irish stew
Even the dream where I fly in the sky
Is a poor second cousin to just sitting beside you
Walking where you're walking, listening when you're talking
And all the other things you do

Once I played a lot of soccer
Coulda been a soccer star
Kicked the ball against the wall
My neighbour said I woulda gone far
Once in a while I wish I had
I guess it's a little late
Well, that's okay, as long as you say
You're gonna be my dinner date

Dreams are ridiculous things...

Back when I played a lot of guitar
Coulda hit a city stage
Coulda been branded a prodigy
I was pretty good for my age
Now I get home at six o'clock
Eating and reading, no time to rock
That's just fine, I don't mind
I found a better way to spend my time

Dreams are ridiculous things...
